Mercedes AdBlue fault repairs
We diagnose AdBlue heater, pump, sensor and injector faults with the right equipment and fix the actual failed part. Book as soon as the warning appears so you are not left with a car that will not restart.
Why book with us
Mercedes AdBlue fault repairs with clear advice.
Most Mercedes diesels badged BlueTEC or with a "d" on the boot — the C220d, E220d, GLC, Vito and Sprinter among them — clean their exhaust with AdBlue, a urea solution injected into the exhaust to cut nitrogen oxide emissions. When any part of that system fails, the car warns you and then counts down the miles until it will refuse to restart. That countdown is a legal requirement, so there is no safe way to ignore it.
The most common failures are well known: the heater in the AdBlue tank (needed to stop the fluid freezing), the AdBlue pump, the NOx sensors either side of the catalyst, and the dosing injector, which can block with crystallised AdBlue. On many models the heater and pump are built into the tank assembly, which is why a "simple" AdBlue fault can sometimes mean replacing more than people expect.
Topping up the tank is the first thing to try, but if the warning stays on after a top-up, or reads something like "AdBlue: No start in 500 miles", there is a fault that needs finding. We regularly see Sprinters and Vitos from local trades around Northfield and Longbridge with this warning — for a working van, a no-start is the last thing you need.
We read the fault memory, check the heater circuit, pump pressure and NOx sensor readings, and inspect the injector for crystals. Sometimes cleaning a blocked injector or replacing a single sensor is the whole fix. Where a tank module is needed we explain why and quote clearly. Removing or disabling the system is illegal and will fail the MOT, so we never do it.
Countdown taken seriously
We prioritise cars and vans showing a no-start countdown where we can.
Failed part found
Heater, pump, sensors and injector each tested before parts are ordered.
Road-legal repairs
We repair the system properly — never delete or disable it.

What our AdBlue diagnosis covers
Clear expectations, no surprises. If anything extra is needed, we explain it first.
- Fault code read of the engine and exhaust after-treatment systems.
- AdBlue level, quality and tank heater circuit checks.
- Pump and dosing pressure test.
- NOx sensor readings compared before and after the catalyst.
- Dosing injector inspection and cleaning of crystal build-up.
- Fault codes cleared and system tests run after repair.

Common questions
- I topped up the AdBlue but the warning is still on. Why?
- Occasionally the system needs a short drive to recognise the new level, but if the warning stays, there is usually a heater, pump, sensor or injector fault that needs diagnosing.
- What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
- The engine will keep running, but once switched off it will not restart until the fault is repaired. It is much easier to get it to us before then.
- Do you work on Sprinter and Vito vans?
- Yes. AdBlue faults are common on Euro 6 Sprinters and Vitos, and we understand a van off the road costs you money, so we explain the options and timings clearly.
