About the journey
Your local garage for Rubery drivers
Rubery straddles the Birmingham and Bromsgrove boundary, about 2.5 miles south-west of us. Bristol Road South (the A38) runs straight from Rubery to our garage in Northfield, and most Rubery drivers are with us in around 10 minutes.
Rubery's big advantage is the motorway: junction 4 of the M5 is just to the south-west, and the M42 is close by. That makes it home to a lot of commuters heading towards Worcester, Bromsgrove, the Black Country or further afield. High-mileage commuter cars need servicing by the miles, not the calendar, and we keep a close eye on tyres, brakes and wheel alignment, which all take a beating at motorway speed.
On the other side of Rubery are the Waseley Hills and the Lickey Hills, and many local roads climb and drop steeply. Heavy braking on long descents heats and wears brakes quickly, and hill starts are hard on clutches. If your brakes judder when you slow down from speed, the discs are often warped, and we can check and quote for new discs and pads.
For drivers who cannot be without the car, drop it off with us and use the buses along the A38 into Northfield or Birmingham. We will call you as soon as it is ready.
We carry out MOTs (£35, free retest within 10 working days), interim, full and major services, diagnostics, brakes, suspension, tyres and alignment, clutches, gearboxes, timing belts, DPF and turbo work, on all makes.
About 2.5 miles south-west — around 10 minutes up the A38 Bristol Road South.

Common questions
- I commute on the M5 every day. What should I have checked?
- Tyres, wheel alignment and brakes first — they wear fastest on motorway runs — then service by mileage rather than date. We will check all of these at every visit.
- My steering wheel shakes when I brake. What is it?
- Usually warped brake discs, which is common where roads drop steeply. We will confirm it and quote for new discs and pads.
- How do I get to you from Rubery?
- Head north-east on the A38 Bristol Road South through Longbridge into Northfield. We are at number 640.
- Do you look after cars from the Bromsgrove side of Rubery too?
- Yes. Wherever you are in Rubery, we are only around 10 minutes away up the A38.
